Christmas Crafts To Brighten Your Décor

Health and Fitness

Decorating for the holidays can be fun for the whole family. Making your own Christmas decorations can not only be a great activity, but saves you money in the long run. Here are a few great ideas. It’s important though you approach your crafts as a fun element in your day, no need to feel stressed .

Make your table as festive as it can be. You can make beautiful candle holders that show your personal style. Get some clear votive holders and spray them with glitter spray and tie a bow around them. They will make your table sparkle.

Make personalized chair covers for your table setting. Take white cloth or felt and sew a pillowcase style cover for each chair. Decorate the back with felt pictures you or your kids can cut out. Each chair can be the same or they can all be unique. Christmas trees, snowmen, candy canes, gingerbread men are just a few of the ideas to use. If you want them to be religious covers, put a manger scene on one, a star of Bethlehem, or the three wise men. To make them more personal, add each person’s name to their chair cover. If you use temporary glue spray to hold the decorations on the cover, you can remove them and re-use the covers for other holidays as well.

Feather Christmas trees are a perfect accent to your rooms. Use craft cones for a base and start gluing your feathers on from the bottom up. You can use feathers to match your decor, whether it is white, gold, black or any color you want. You want to taper them, starting with big ones at the bottom and smaller ones at the top. Add whatever star you wish to top it off. When you are finished you can display it with pine cones around its base, or in a bed of evergreen sprayed with fake snow.

To make a winter wonderland scene for the kids, use a white sparkly felt material for a “snow” base. You will definitely want to add snowmen. You can use pom poms, craft styrofoam balls or whatever material you choose. You can add small toy animals such as deer and rabbits in the forest. Make some colored Christmas trees by gluing several small pom poms to pine cones. When stood upright, they resemble lit up trees. Use your imagination to add whatever you picture in your winter scene.

A homemade wreath is always a great welcome for your guests. If you cut your own tree, use all the extra branches you have after trimming it to perfection. (you know – making room underneath for all those presents…) Just use curtain rod hooks to attach branches to a foam ring and decorate as you wish.
